Me and my man are not planning to have kids in next 5 years and the best natural option we found to prevent "little accidents" was Coper coil IUD. I am 20 and have never been taking any other pregnancy pills but I have been always having very heavy and painful menstrual periods and sometimes would also feel nauseous. Taking this into a count I am a bit afraid to get copper coil IUD knowing the side effects. What would be your advice for me?

Speaking to a sexual health nurse will allow you to discuss the best options for you and your body. Maybe make an appointment with your gp to discuss contraception methods
Hi if you already have heavy periods then I would not recommend the copper coil as this will make it worse and it takes at least 6 months to settle down with spotting in between.I have had this coil but I suffered from alot of thrush infections repeatedly. So had it removed after 3 years.
I initially went to get the copper IUD and my clinician swore me off of it due to it typically making periods far heavier, so if this is something you already struggle with then this may not be the right option for you.
There are other options such as the Mirene and Jaydess IUD. I personally have the Jaydess as it is a lower hormonal dosage, but I have only been spotting a little bit in these first two months - no periods so far!
