Double Period? on Copper IUD

I understand that the copper coil makes your period heavier and longer, especially when just inserted. But I'm wondering if it can cause a double period. When I had the coil inserted, I had very bad cramps for 2 days, then my period started. A little heavier, but nothing crazy, just constant small cramps. 10 days later I can see I'm close to finishing up with my period (which is much longer than normal, and thats fine), but the next day I get bad cramps again and my period came heavy, as if it started again. Now it seems I have another 10 days + ahead of me. Is that normal? Is a double period possible? How long is too long for a period on the copper coil?

This is some unscheduled bleeding with the IUD. Its not necessarily another period - so its unlikely you are going to bleed for the next ten days.
