My partner had chlamydia so I done a test and it came back negative I am confused because I was certain I would have caught it help?

There are different possibilities . 1 Your test was "false negative " meaning infection is there but test didn't detect it 2 their test was "false positive " meaning the infection wasn't there but something made the test flag up 3 you were lucky and didn't acquire the infection 4 you did have the infection but antibiotics for a different problem cleared it.

The chance of false positives and negatives with UK standard DNA tests for chlamydia is very small <5% . Even with your test being negative, for this reason it is recommended you take antibiotics as a contact.

Ok that is your decision, the chance of two false negatives with a DNA test is extremely low. But it would still be recommended to take the antibiotics - 1 week doxycycline
