I was put on yasmin to help with my acne. But after years of use it caused my cervix to bleed. I've had to come off yasmin but now my acne is back with a vengeance. I want to be on another contraceptive to help with my acne but I'm worried it'll damage my cervix more. Any advice/suggestions? TYIA x

Contraception?
Have you tried barrier methods?? I suffered super bad with acne for years but once I got the coil fitted, my skin cleared up massively. I also added a few different things into my diet as that helps, like cutting down/out on dairy products, avocados are amazing for your skin also!
The doctor recommended a IUD but I'm apprehensive of side effects and possible complications. I definitely could do with a better diet to help my skin thats for sure. X
Yeah I found when I was on the pill my skin broke out like crazy but since having the coil in I only get the odd few spots here and there but I totally get you I was apprehensive at first but it has done me great so far! It could worth a try and if it isn’t for you it can simply be taken out. Yeah diet can come into it, but as it does with everything just finding what works for you really x
Hi Kelly,
Yasmin doesn't make your cervix bleed or damage your cervix. I think you are talking about a cervical ectopy which is common in young women on the pill - but it happens in young women not on the pill too. If its bleeding a lot ( and chlamydia is excluded ) then some gynae units can do freeze treatments to it. remember the pill is part of acne management as well as antibiotics etc - so you need to talk about this with the GP. And almost any pill will help with acne.
