New here. I have the Copper Coil and have been incredibly relieved by the effectiveness of it, no hormones or babies - what a win!
However, I have had some discomfort since it was put in place. Not continuous but noticeable. Sometimes just a niggle but sometimes it's very sore. Also I had my regular smear in May and they couldn't find my coil strings so I'm unsure what I should do!
Has anyone else found anything similar/able to offer any advice?
Thankyou

If in UK - if no coil threads are seen - you should be using condoms or an alternative form of contraception until an ultrasound scan is performed to check placement. If unprotected sex recently, consider take emergency contraception if within 5 days of sex, if longer a pregnancy test. Whoever examined you and could not see the threads should have given this advice.
Usually if they are unable to find the coil strings it might not even be there. Not that it's impossible that the strings might have somehow got further inside but it's usually not the case... they are designed to hang arround for access. I think the PP also suspects the same which is why recommended the contraception or emmergency contraception in the meantime before you get more clarity into the matter. Not having babies when on IUD is obvious but no hormone tantrum at all is pretty rare. is Do not delay with an ultrasound really... you need to know if it's still there or just the strings are somehow missing. I haven't personally had a IUD ever neither have I heard anything that could be relevant to your case. Usually the problems with IUD are digging in, bleeding due to the wrong clasp, persistant discomfort so on and so forth.
