It is safe . If you are having a copper coil inserted, and your only risk was within 5 days, then the IUD insertion can be considered as emergency contraception . However if there were other risks outside of the 5 day window, and a possible risk of pregnancy, the coil inserter may decide its better to see your next period and ensure you are not pregnant.
