Copper coil fitted

I had the copper coil fitted today at 8am it was one of the most painful things I have ever done. I have had period cramps since it got inserted and they have been so painful. It’s now 10pm and still have such sore period pains, is this normal?

I had the three year hormonal coil fitted. My mum had the five year fitted. We Both had cramps for about two days after. It's normal to have them, you have to remember that you've had something poked through your cervix that doesn't really go there naturally and your body's natural response is to get rid of the thing that isn't normally there. But it will die down.

Hi the pain is pretty normal and some people feel it more than others. It is normal to have a period like discharge for upto a week until it settles down and your body gets useto it being there. The copper coil takes at least a good 6 months to settle as periods get heavy and unsettled at first. But after that you do go back to your normal cycle with no stomache cramps, etc.
