I got my coil fitted 19th December 2018 straight after I had my period exactly a day after. The fitting hurt a little bit after taking some deep breaths everything was fine. However, people expericance pain on different levels.
I then had my first period 9th January 2019, normally my period last for days and normally light. Therefore I expected this cycle to be different and it was. It started off a few days before with just some spotting and then heavy bleeding for 5 days. A few cramps here and there but that’s perfectly normally with any period with or without the coil. I got told to check the coil after my first period as there’s chance it could move, I checked and everything was fine!
However, a few weeks later during sexual intercorse with my partner I started to experience pain which I knew didn’t feel right. However, I ignored the pain because according to my cycle log that I have, I was due in 2 days so I didn’t worry myself about it.
2 days later no period arrived, I thought straight away it must just be late. My body isn’t use to the coil it must just be having a moment. 8 days later still no period, so of course I go into panic mode doing pregnancy test every day! All came back negative. I then checked for my coil again, couldn’t feel anything!
I had this horrible feeling that something wasn’t right so I booked an appointment with my Gynaecologist to make sure I wasn’t going crazy. The day before my appointment I stated to heavy bleed 14 Feb 19.
Today I went to the Gynaecologist and she had a look. She can see my coil however, the strings are now bent back! (No wonder I wasn’t able to feel them!) She then did a scan and noticed that my coil was hanging out of my womb! She told me that my coil wasn’t interested correctly and if it was it’s now moved. She then had to remove my coil because I wasn’t protected against pregnancy. When she removed it I didn’t even feel a thing that’s how far out it was!
I hope this helps anybody that is experiencing the same thing as me or anybody who has been through this as well.
