Hi will my bf need to be treated for bv? I had it not long ago and ive only just been able to shake it off recently after getting all different kinds of medication for it. About a day or 2 ago my boyfriend and i had unprotected sex (the first time without condom since i first got diagnosed with bv bcos my doc said to use condoms, it will lower the risk of infections like this) ever since then my vagina is really irritated and red. Sortof got the bv symptoms back? If i go to the doctors, ill be telling them to put my boyfriendon antibiotics for it aswell cause i keep recurring after we have unprotected sex & we are planning on having kids at some stage so i dont want the infection to harm me while im pregnant either.

It is always important that when you are diagnosed with an STI that you let your partner know so that they get tested and treated and waiting until you have both completed treatment before resuming sexual relations. It is likely that your partner was infected, you got treated they didn't and so have re-infected you. Also please be aware that you can be infectious for several days both before and after an outbreak so only refraining from sex during an outbreak is insufficient.
Yes, I think it's wise to go back to the doctor and have them check both of you guys out at the same time. You said that when you have unprotected sex that's when you feel the discomfort in your vagina and when you wear a condom you feel no sensation such as what you're describing obviously something is not right quiet Mouse
