I want the coil fitted so I was wondering if I went to a family planning clinic would they fit the coil there and then?

I think not.

They will want to discuss this with you,examine you and do tests which you have to await the results of before fitting.

i doubt it. I had to go for an appointment prior to my fitting to discuss it with the nurse. they asked me lots of questions about my medical history to ensure it was suitable and asked about my cycle to ensure it was fitted at an appropriate time. you are not allowed to have sex in the 7 days prior to fitting to rule out pregnancy and it helps to have it fitted during your period as the cervix is open a little. once i had discussed with the nurse, she made an appointment for my fitting a couple of weeks later.
