I had the implant in as soon as I had my first child I had the same symptoms that u are describing know bt they settled down bt the next I was due on. And then they stopped completely. If u are still the same in a week I would say go to your doctor and see if it could be the implant. The second one I had it I was none stop bleeding so everyone is different hun xx

Three things:

Where in your cycle did you start your progestogen only pill? Was it started on Day 1.

How far into your packet of POPs did you swap to the Implant?

Did you use extra protection for the first 7 days after having the implant inserted, as you would have been advised?

Did you use condoms as well as your pills and now implant?

When were you last screened for Chlamydia?

As your period is late, and you are worried, if you had sex more than three weeks ago, do a pregnancy test to rule that out (as you are late, although POMs can make bleeds very irregular anyway).

Was the time when you bled the first time you had sex?

I think you should go back to see the person who inserted your implant, rather than guess or worry further. You will get much more peace of mind and they will follow a format to make sure you are safe.

I hope that helps. And these are some of the questions you will be asked... and probably several more! (We like asking questions, to help us form a picture of what's really going on, so the more you can tell, by dates, as well as incidents, the better. Tip: Write it down before you go, to make it easier for both you and the practitioner.)

What did they do/say?

Beckiee1345 profile image
Beckiee1345 in reply to HJK1

I have symptoms of an inflammed either cervix or pelvis and if the pain gets worse and I start being sick I should go to A&E and the bleeding is due to the implant

HJK1 profile image

No pregnancy test? No chlamydia test? No treatment? Where on earth did you go? The first two were the minimum I expected they would do to find the underlying cause of the problem and rule them out rather than just make an assumption! The bleeding is one thing, but pain, another. Did they even do an internal examination to come to that conclusion?

Beckiee1345 profile image
Beckiee1345 in reply to HJK1

Sorry I did a pregnancy test and it came back negative which is good because of my age and she examined my belly and the inside of my vagina and said that I have inflammation

OK - good re preg test - that's reliable at three weeks after unprotected sex, so I hope you waited at least that long - the inflamed cervix, though, unless you recently had a chlamydia test that was negative, I would do one somewhere to just rule that out, as you're in a high risk age group and it's such a simple test to do. Keep a diary of your bleeding and your discomfort in the meantime - hope things settle and that you are OK going forward. Given your age, and that the cervix isn't yet mature (until you're about 23!) it can sometimes look that way but as you're sexually active, I would insist you repeated the chlamydia screen (cos I'm annoying like that!). I hope you have had the HPV vaccine at school? If not, it would be worth speaking to your GP about it, even now, as there are two types and one gives more protection than the other - and you need to make sure you look after your cervix carefully, for when you decide you want to get pregnant in the years to come.

You sound like a mature young lady, so I hope it all settles for you soon, and that all tests give the results you hope for.

They would of tested her of all STI's or STD's before..

Beckiee1345 profile image
Beckiee1345 in reply to x0Tashaa0x

Yh I have been tested for everything and I'm clean

HJK1 profile image
HJK1 in reply to x0Tashaa0x

Not necessarily - I don't think you should assume that, which is why I just asked her for clarification.

x0Tashaa0x profile image
x0Tashaa0x in reply to HJK1

I'm not assuming it, now before any implant is inserted they do the sti n std tests.

HJK1 profile image
HJK1 in reply to x0Tashaa0x

Not always. People can, and do, say they don't want to be tested. We can only encourage, not make someone if they don't want to. What you are saying is the ideal... It's just safer not to assume when it comes to anything related to sexual health. xx

It's okay, wait it out. I had it to.

I got my iud in a year and a half ago and bled for ages. almost 2 1/2 months. (Lucky my partner at that time ordered his steaks rare ... if you know what I mean)

;)

aannnnnd everything was fine ... until we broke up for a bit and I had sex with one of those enormous-penis-having-mofos-who-didn't-know-how-to-use-it.

After having sex with this guy one time in particular, there was an hour where I felt really nauseous and weak, almost like how I felt after getting the iud put in.

I bled lightly for about a month ... no really abnormal pain after that first day, but it turns out that he thrusted the damn thing into my uterine wall so hard, it stuck.

So now it's just hanging out in there, embedded in my uterine wall.

Still works fine, its just like a little .. 1/2 in 1/2 out internal piercing now.

However, I was told that if I start having bad pain, like bad bad cramps all the time, then I should get it removed because that will likely mean that my little mona lisa has perforated my uterus ... which is less good...

to put it mildly.

TLDR?

If the pain is really awful and weird I would go see a doctor, especially if you engage in vigorous sexual activity with a partner who's "probe" could satisfy another, bigger, species.

I'm booked to see if I can get the mirena fitted on Thursday and actually shitting myself to put it politely!

Five of my friends have previously had it fitted and we were all talking about it.

Two of them have totally lost it like it's fell out

& the other three, well ones got it stuck! & the other two have lost it inside them but are 6 & 5 weeks pregnant!

I would say if your late there isn't really a point of testing just yet but if your close to a £1 land maybe consider one of those pregnancy tests? Just to be sure? Maybe it'll show?

The cramps are apparently rather normal & periods too! According to the mirena website & leaflet booklet (you should have had this handed) sometimes can last upto a year!

If your worried, firstly you would have been taught how to feel your threads? Feel for them?

Can't feel them? Either go to the place you got it fitted or to your GP ASAP!

If you are worried phone up your GP or local sexual health clinic they can help you?

Don't over think trust me! Relax & good luck!

I'm rather thankful I've a phobia of needles and heard many bad things about that one hopefully it works for you!

But thank you! X

Scary how one can reproduce so fast on and admit fly it's amazing to see how different contreception a work better for others my sister caught on the implant (unfortunately baby didn't make it:( but hasn't on the pill which she's been taking for the past 6 years so it's defiently strange but one thing that is a fact is that us being women are awesome lol! When it comes to the whole 'periods' etc we are like warriors haha! Hope everything improves& if you do ever get scared of the whole 'pregnant' thing because you've missed a period all clear blue showed 'negative'results for all my 3! So don't waste £10 on one lol the £1 land ones picked up my pregnancies straight away! :)

I should think the pains are your period waiting to come. I also think that 2/3 weeks after the implant is a bit soon. Find out when your implant would become protective. Sorry, I know it's hard but wait a couple of weeks and then get a test. If you are, and don't want to be, get to the doctors soonish. You won't be told off. You, ll be helped. He/she won't tell your mum.

Try to be a bit more careful, being so young you could be very fertile. Find out a bit more about your body and sex. Good on you for getting protection.
