Effects of past chlamydia on fertility now.

I contracted Chlamydia from an ex about a decade ago. I had it for a duration of 9 months max, 3 months minimum. I had bad UTI symptoms (diagnosed by Dr as UTI) which were cloudy urine, sometimes it burned to wee and back pain, treated by antibiotics which got rid of those symptoms, but had a sexual health check anyway which led to being treated for chlamydia with azithromycin. No PID mentioned, I was examined and didn't experience any discomfort. Don't know if it had progressed to that as some sources say it can be subclinical and others state I'm being daft and I would definitely know as symptoms are quite obvious and wouldn't go with one lot of uti antibiotics.

Now my current partner and I are ready to start a family and i'm paranoid I'm infertile. I recognise I have a risk factor, but how much of a risk of infertility do I have? Do many women who have had chlamydia for 9 months have babies naturally, or is it hopeless? A lot of media emphasises infertility as a consequence undestandably to encourage testing- but I'm afraid it's making me incredibly depressed. I'm crying daily and feeling worthless, even had some suicidal thoughts. I couldn't live with ruining my partners chances of being father.

From what I can see on pregnancy forums lots of women with same fears as me.

Thanks for reply.

Partner and I both tested at start of relationship and again recently as iv had some health issues. All clear. My infection was a decade ago.

I have a gynae appointment in 2 weeks where I guess we will set up scans and laparoscopy and ill know more about my reproductive organs and their conditions. Just looking for some positive reassurance from anyone who had chlamydia and went on to have a baby.

Hi i caught chlamydia at 15 with my daughters dad had it a fair few months and was trying for a baby at the time we both got treated (age 16) and his hadnt completely cleared id had my next test back positive and he passed it back to me so actually had it twice i tried for 3 years then gave up i was depressed all the time and like u felt a failure but the stress of trying seems to stopit happening it seems as soon as i gave up and thought no point never gonna happen i found out i was pregnant soon after my fallopian tubes are closed quite alot and i have terrible ovarian cysts from the infection i never stopped having a period docs told me it was very low chances of me ever conceiving so dont loose hope just loose the stress and try not to try for it as ull conceive when ur bodies ready and good luck to u both when u do :) xx
