I’ve just started my FET cycle and booked in for transfer on the 25th Nov.

Did anyone ask their GP to sign of sick for their cycle? I’m having a rubbish time at work and feel I need to relax as this is our last frostie. I also wouldn’t want the sick note to say about the FET on it.

Never been off sick before so not sure how easy it would be xx

I didn’t.. luckily work just let me take unpaid leave every time but I they knew all about the ivf etc xx

in reply to Tugsgirl

They knew about it last time and paid me full pay but that manager has left. The new manager has openly said IVF is a choice so has to be holiday or unpaid. I would normally just work through it but work has been so bad lately I don’t feel I can do both xx

Can you afford to take unpaid? xx

in reply to Tugsgirl

No unfortunately not because of hubby being on furlough. Just terrified I’ll be track and traced as well or getting covid before transfer day. Especially when we had positive at work a couple of weeks ago. Bloody covid xx

I got signed off 4 weeks (2 weeks prior and 2ww) best decision I ever made. I’m classed as a key worker, my job is stressful and staff are having to isolate due to contracting or coming into contact with Covid 19. I decided to be selfish. This was my time and it’s an emotional and expensive time. I ummed and arr’d for ages about should I/shouldn’t I? Absolute right decision for me. Some people prefer to work through and find it a helpful distraction. You do what’s best for you. Good luck and wishing you all the best for your upcoming transfer. 🤞🙏💕 x

Oh this is great to hear! I only work in a GP surgery as a secretary but last week they moved another person into our office which is tiny after months of saying it isn’t safe because of covid to do so. It’s also mega busy and I’m lead sec and so stressed. We also had a positive case and she walked around the building for days with loss of taste 🙈 I’m just getting so stressed and upset at home that I’ll get covid or told to self isolate. I’m not a person to take sick leave but I’m seriously considering it xx

Honestly, just do it. I don’t regret it at all. My GP didn’t have any qualms about signing me off....she completely understood. I think we’re made to feel guilty for not putting work first. Heck I work to live and frankly having a family is more important to me. I actually pre warned my boss that I was doing IVF and I will be getting signed off. She was totally fine with it and supportive. Even if she wasn’t supportive I still would have done it. Xx

Thank you. Will get onto this soon then. I didn’t want them to find out about the IVF but I won’t have much choice with the sick note but oh well xx

You can get them to write gynaecology procedure if you would prefer them not to know. However I have had multiple rounds in the last couple of years so it was easier and actually less stressful for me to be honest. Going through IVF is the one time in life where I now believe you can be selfish. Xx

in reply to Lovemylion

Last time I really wasn’t bothered that they knew but this manager is a bitch and thinks it’s a choice to go through IVF so should take unpaid leave or holiday for appointments. Luckily being part time my appointments are booked on non work days xx

Well have whatever makes you feel comfortable written on it. Could just have stress on it 🤷🏼‍♀️. ....cause it is f%#*^** stressful! As soon as I handed in that note I felt like I could breathe again. Good luck and really hope you get your BFP! Xx

in reply to Lovemylion

Thank you. I def would love the feeling of breathing again! I’ll arrange to speak to GP this week 🤞🏻 xx

That's great and has Gp kept it that its nothing to do with ivf? Your manager sounds like a right tit! xx

in reply to AllWeNeedIsluv

Yes he put anxiety which I’m pretty sure I suffer with anyway but always been to scared to admit it. They are also arranging a mental health worker to call me next week too xx
