Introducing my miracle twins (finally!)

I’m so sorry this has taken so long, As you know the first few weeks are a blur of shock, recovery and overwhelming emotion! Then I meant to post on fertility network but have been unsure whether to or not while so the dreams of so many are on hold right now. I don’t know why I didn’t think to post on here sooner 🤦‍♀️

I am over the moon to be able introduce my miracle twins Tommy James and Ellie Rose. Following three full rounds of IVF with ICSI, we found out I was pregnant at Glastonbury festival in June last year.

My pregnancy was wonderful with few unpleasant symptoms and we had positive news at each scan (with twins we had 15 altogether which I’m very grateful for!). I was still pinching myself throughout but loved being pregnant. It was only towards the end I was pretty uncomfortable due to my size and excess fluid causing swelling in my legs and feet and carpal tunnel in both hands which took weeks to go.

They arrived by planned cesarean section at exactly 37 weeks on Valentine’s Day weighing 5lb 7 (Tommy) and 5lb 2 (Ellie). All went well and we stayed in 3 days just to keep an eye on Ellie’s weight but it was such a relief that they didn’t need any extra care so we all stayed together. Plus it was before Coronavirus hit so my family and friends got to meet them before lockdown.

I will be eternally grateful for all the help we received through our treatment cycles, pregnancy and since and I feel so lucky to be where I am now. Although I will always carry the scars, I am proud of what we went through to get here and I would do it all again in a heartbeat.

My world is now complete and the black cloud of infertility has finally lifted to be replaced by blue sky. 🌈 💙💕 (and the worry/guilt that comes with parenthood!)

Lots of love to you fellow warriors xxx
