Hello!! Just wondering if anyone can help. Has anyone suffered from constipation in pregnancy. I have tried drinking fibregel and it works but I know this is TMI but I feel sometimes the poo gets stuck!!!! I just need to know I am not alone!!!
Second pregnancy and I didn't have any of these issues with my first!!! X

Yes I had that it's horrible isn't it?! First I started eating more fruit like tinned prunes which helped but had to stop because I got gestational diabetes. The dietitian advised eating plenty of nuts and seeds which helped. If you can get some milled linseed/flaxseed and have it in porridge that helps and drink plenty of water x
Oh thank god I am not the only one!!! Thank you so much for replying back. I have started drinking prune juice to see if that helps. But I will definitely get the linseed and flaxseeds. X
You're welcome. I hope you feel better soon. Chia seeds soaked in water are also good. You can have them with porridge or fruit as they're pretty tasteless! X
Im not having a great time with this too! I have a bit of a lazy bowel at the best of times but its worse now and makes me feel quite full which isn't great carrying twins. Lol I got given lactulose which does help although I do try not to drink the stuff. Prunes don't do an awful lot for me and they're so sweet....hopefully it helps you out!xx
Hey Cinderella! How are you doing? How long do you have left. Consiptattion is awful isn't it. I didn't have this with my little boy. I hate straining so much. I was given fibergel which I took but it's still hard!! I am going to see if the prune juice helps. My sister said to try apricots too. I know I need to drink more water but I feel so full up. Hope you are doing ok xx
I really struggle to drink enough to make my urine clear and keep the headaches at bay. I swear Im drinking loads and it doesn't seem to help. Apart from that and feeling full which is causing me a bit of upper abdo pain Ive been very lucky to have kept very well and only have 9 wks to go....still feels like an eternity! Lol Keep sipping that water lovely.xx
I am like you!! Trying to eat little and often and drinking water but I just feel full up! I am only 19 weeks! Awww you don't have long to go at all..keep us all updated. So happy for you, you deserve this twins too!! Double the blessing xx
Thanks ever so much! Im very grateful to be in this position so don't like to moan but the fullness is tricky although its better than it was in earlier stages weirdly enough or maybe Im just getting used to feeling this way!xx
Yes definitely I know how you feel. I used to feel pain at night when laying down. And would often wake up in pain!! Towards the end it is painful. But not long to go
Here in Brazil they swear by Papaya for constipation and I looked into it and it does actually have enzymes that can break down other foods - they use it to tenderize meat!! It's also fiber and water, which is always good. BUT it has to be ripe, especially if you're pregnant. So rind that's more yellow than green and flesh that's dark orange and juicy rather than pale orange and dry.Try not to strain as you could end up with hemorrhoids and that's no fun!!
I’m struggling with this. I’ve been 3 times in 10 days. I’m suffering with sickness and nausea all day so when I eat it’s whatever I can stand so I know I’m not eating enough fibre. I don’t always have the full water allocation but I’m just too full. I’m going to ring the dr as I know I need to go but can’t x
Hi sorry to hear that you are going through it too. Tbh the thing that worked for me is drinking a glass of prune juice a day. Honestly it's worked so much better. I feel better and by drinking more water. But I think the prune juice worked more. I hope it works for you too x
Thank you so much for taking time out to message me. I have been making changes to my diet and it's helped so much. Glad you are feeling better too!! I do miss coffee!!
