Hi there,

My daughter takes omega 3,6,9 and a combined b vitamin and has for some time but, I cannot say how much these help if that makes sense. She still has struggles I mean.

Thanks for your reply! Always worth trying!

What kind of B-vitamin du you use? B12 Methyl or cyano ?

Found this on Methyl-B12:

Adams, J. B., et al. (2011). Nutritional and metabolic status of children with autism vs. neurotypical children, and the association with autism severity. Nutrition & Metabolism, 8(1), 34.

We did genesight testing with our son and learned that he processes only about 30% of the folate he ingests. When we read more, we learned that methyfolate is a form of folate that is bioavailable to him, and that folic acid is not. Because of his genetic difference in processing folate, supplementing with methylfolate and methylcobalamin (they are synergistic and need to be taken together) has made a significant difference. We now, as a family, take broad spectrum micronutrients, fish oil, and probiotic, after all, our genes are his genes :)

Genesight seems interesting! Did they recommend daily dose? GDA level or higher? As I understand it, B-vitamins can be taken also in high doses.

Happy that it seems to work so well for your son! 😊

His then pediatrician just recommended a daily folic acid supplement which is what the genesight report notes to doctors to recommend. When you read the research on PubMed, however, you realize it’s a bit more nuanced than that. He takes a bit more than the RDA of folate and quite a bit higher b12.

Exactly! I just feel a bit uncomfortable with taking higher than GDA althoug supported in research. 😊
