Visual and Tactile ( Smell) Sensory

So I’ve been reading the book ten things every child with autism wishes you knew. And I read the chapter on sensory overload and it talked about visual and tactile sensory and it’s making me believe that’s why I have to put on deodorant over and over again numerous times. Because I need to wear and put soft stuff on me so the more deodorant I put on the softer it is on me and it also has a more noticeable smell and the deodorant is noticeable and I can see it. And it helps me to know that I did put the deodorant on because if I can’t see or if it isn’t a strong enough smell I think that I didn’t put it on. Any suggestions for decreasing the number of times I put it on?

I just read a book called odd girl out she had a more delightful story then I did. It’s by Laura James it’s at any library if you call ahead you can just pick it up quick. For scents I used to throw up for body odor. I couldn’t ride the bus I threw up so much because other kids had unique smells they gave me Dramamine or said it was road sickness. The smell of my own body even gave me nausea.

I prefer cotton products a cotton sports bra cotton t shirt maybe a button down maybe a pull over. I’m practicing calligraphy today. Working on a work book called Mind over Mood. Turns out folks with autism have more anxiety then others because it’s stressful to know your being judged weighed and measured by anyone walking by.

Yeah it’s just hard because no matter as hard as I try I can’t help but think I’ll smell and keep putting deodorant on to make sure that doesn’t happen. And consistently smelling my underarms over and over again to make sure my deodorant is working. And then smelling my underarms in the morning to see if the deodorant is still working even if it’s 24 hour deodorant or the 48 hr deodorant

Lol like in that movie superstar . Rent that movie if you can. Also try to get that book and know that even if someone does smell funny they still have intrinsic value. It might just be a little phase. For every ailment under the sun there is a remedy or there is none if there be one go and find it if there is none never mind it.

No I’ve been doing it for 12 or 12 years. But I did buy the book temple talks about autism and sensory by Temple Grandin
