anyone else find it practically impossible to get and keep a job?

For neurotypical abled people, work can sometimes be a mine field but they’re much better at detecting those bombs, knowing how to diffuse them or learning how to handle it. For ‘me’, it’s always a minefield and im going through it without a bomb detector, don’t know how to diffuse it and no one can help or understand me (not without a price) while also somehow manage not showing any weakness or my usefulness and competency comes into question or is criticized.

Employers just want an abled neurotypical extrovert who’s obedient and is great with customers (someone that will make them lots of money); im the total opposite and have to pretend to be a completely different person in order to keep a job and unfortunately that’s exhausting and I can’t keep it up. I’ve tried multiple programs over the years that help disabled and neurodivergent people, i’ve tried going to college 4 times but no matter how hard I try, even with accommodations, I cant pass a college class. I’ve done lots of volunteer work, was in girlscouts, I have references, have experience in the jobs I ‘can’ do and have training for what im good at but none of it helps or makes a difference because im not what they want. I miraculously got a part time job a few months ago and it was the first job I got outside of working for a family member in years. YEARS.

I know where I live they have a program for people with disabilities to work in certain places with a person who watches them until they are able to perform their jobs. I know it's not full time work but it enables the worker to earn a living. I watched a girl start out working at a taco place. All she did was deliver the food to tables. She didnt have to change who she was. These are very valuable programs together individuals because they feel very independent. Congratulations on your job!! I'm sure you'll be great at it.

I’ve done something like that. had someone shadow me in various minimum wage jobs and assess wether they could help me. after weeks, they basically said they can’t help me with no explanation; which happens a lot. where do you live? im in the US. thanks btw

I am from the Midwest. ( message). These programs help with jobs, hearing aids for those need them for work and communications, telephone (for the hard of hearing), I believe Schooling. Just a bit of what they do. I've had to use a program a few times to help out when needed.

I see. im in california. Where I am, the good programs are either expensive, difficult to get into, involve me going back to school (which isn’t an option for me) or I don’t qualify for whatever reason. what’s the program you’re talking about called?

Oh yes I know exactly what you are talking about, I am 44 and have working in factories packing sandwiches, I have worked as an architectural designer and in engineering design my true CV is about 12 pages long and try cutting that down to a page or 2 as recommended by a recruitment agency. I have a life time of work issues that have caused me problems at every turn and I am back there again having to go cap in hand to the government to ask for benefits to survive, were everyone else seams to be able to get pip I am always refused and with that forced in to finding another job that I know will only last for 5 minutes, so yes I all so suffer like you
