Consultant withdraw surgery

After 13 years of my daughter being in leg pain we were finally given a diagnoses, we thought at last, okay required drastic surgery but now we know what it is and it is in writing. Went to 2nd appointment with head of department who said consultant was mistaken and that although my daughter could do with a operation to help with her lags in his opinion he did not feel it warranted it, my daughter has been housebound for 2 years and only 16 years old. Get a second opinion I here you say, well first of all you have to go back to GP and only if they feel it needs to be addressed would they consider sending her for second opinion I was also told by GP practice it does come down to funding. My daughters quality of life is down people who don't understand her or the autism I am pretty sure the head of department did not understand her autism and did not try, it was a very disappointing meeting he is sending her for Holistic approach, basically we got the impression he was saying it is all in her head and try some pain management. From when she started to walk we have had this problem I hardly think a 2 year old is going to have head issues about walking and continue to have painissues into her teenage years. so that is were we are at.

Hi Sharon201, don't give up, go and demand the 2nd opinion. I have been in your shoes for a different ailment and after just attending 1 hospital appointment went back to my GP and demanded a 2nd referral. It was a struggle, but I argued my case and he gave in as it was easier than arguing with me. The GP looked at my blood work and stated everything was normal but I felt far from normal. I hope this helps?

Thank you for sharing your experience, I will go to the GP as I know there is something wrong and we need to get it sorted, I can not let one person ruin my daughters life with his opinion, which is wrong. thanks.
