Opening the door

This probably is not news but here goes.

Just lately I have found opening the front door difficult. I am in a wheelchair and therefore low to the handle. i looked for straighforward handle extensions to no avail. What I have come up with is cheap and cheerful. I have tied a long piece of thin white ribbon to the handle which I can hold and pull. It works!!

good for you the problems we all encounter can be got round in simple ways. I am not in a chair but it is good to share tips often they are so simple they are staring us in the face. Another simple tip is to use insulated mugs for cups of tea ect as they look normal and have lids, the silicone lids from lakeland plastics seem to work ok [the daft thing on the top pulls off, I keep it in my coat pocket the clear ones are quite discrete ]

A tips section on this site may be useful to all hint hint

Hello Johnpa

Thank you. It is awful carrying anything especially liquids when you have tremours. Getting rfom room to room is a nightmare. Another tip for carrying liquids is to cover the top with cling film, this also works.

Take care

Hello BobR

I have sent for a cover, I will let you no how I get on with it. Cling film is fine indoors but it is not something you can put in your pocket.
