My Ataxia symptoms - dizziness, speech, balance - get worse with cold or damp weather - much bettter when warm and dry. Does that happen to anyone else?

🙂 Yes..weather conditions can effect my symptoms. Low pressure seems to stimulate brain fog.Too cold, and I seem to stiffen. Too hot..and it’s exhausting

Yes, I did notice things got worse when it's very cold over winter (mostly stiffness!)

Yes, walking for example is much easier in good weather

Cold weather makes legs stiffer and it may sound silly but the weight of clothing makes a difference. Eg the effort in winter to lift legs wearing jeans, jumper and a heavy coat result in far more fatigue than wearing just shorts and t-shirt

Yes, I noticed in 2018/19;when I was in Australia for Christmas and I had 3 weeks of no pain and better overall health in their summer. Then when I got back home to Scottish winter my pain and nerve ppa8n got worse.

thanks for this

Yeah. I have secondary 'Raynauds' phenomenon with my ataxia. So my hands, feet, nose and ears can get very cold. Dizziness and balance/coordination are also problematic for me. I do not have slurred speech though.
