PIP help

I’ve been in receipt of PIP for 2 years only getting 8 points for daily living and mobility. My symptoms have got a lot worse in the last year so have applied to say my circumstances have changed. I want to ask if anyone in Scotland has experience with changed circumstances. Did they have to go for another interview, a phone call? Are they doing interviews now? Any help would be greatly appreciated especially in Scotland.

🙂 I can’t offer any advice re PIP, but you may get an answer from contacts of support groups in Scotland...See ataxia.org.uk and search for branches and support groups.

My GP offered to help us which I was amazed at but I'm in England but it can't hurt to ask ? Good luck we started the application in June and haven't had anything apart from the information that says it has gone to the assessment center 🤔

I reported a change as it informs you to do so, unforetunatley this was put as a new claim, all my pip was stopped, took another 7 months for the appointment which was a f2f, the "judge" on the panel was horrified that I had to go through this because of the incorrect way my case was handled and immediately reinstated my claim for the higher allowance , she apologised to me for the stress that was caused, what I am saying is that you must stress that you do not want to be put as a new claim, you want to adjust your claim.

Have let them know it’s just a change to circumstances. The form was just asking what had changed. Thanks for replying xx

I think PIP works the same in Scotland as it does in England (until it changes to Adult Disability Payment next year). In which case I am fairly certain you will have to have a new medical assessment. If you would like to talk it through with Ataxia UK, please do get in touch via our Helpline, either by phoning 0800 995 6037 or by emailing help@ataxia.org.uk. We are open Monday to Thursday 10.30 to 2.30 (though we are closing over Christmas from 24th December to 3rd January inclusive).
