Prisms for diplopia

I have had double vision corrected with prisms for 10 years. Now that my prisms are stronger and thicker it has been difficult to achieve the correction required and retain a sharp image. Has anyone else had this problem and could anyone recommend an optician with appropriate experience and expertise who can access lenses of suitable quality to resolve this problem.

It may not be an option for you depending on insurance but corrective surgery is an option when prism limit is reached.

Thank you for your thoughtful suggestion. I did ask at my last outpatient appointment and was told I was not suitable for surgery. I might seek another opinion however.

Very interesting - not sure where you are though. I use a brilliant optician though - Nic Sproson in Worcester x

🤔 I had a Botox injection, this can give very good results but my eye had been damaged by Iritis. So I went on to have Strabismus (Squint) Surgery, which did give good results, and I no longer have Prisms. It’s a shame you’ve been told you aren’t a suitable candidate.

Thank you that is interesting. I think I need to do some asking around for a good second opinion. In the meantime however I need new glasses!

I have diplopia in one eye and was told there was nothing they could do. I am wondering if it's possible to get glasses with prism on one side only. Also, one doctor wanted to inject Botox into my eye which I declined not knowing what the result would be because he said he wasn't sure if it would work for me. I would appreciate hearing more opinions from others.

I started with one eye. I would think it should be possible to bring both images together. When I am measured for stronger prisms they always say( can be divided across both lenses)
