I have a small shallow cushion between my knees when I sleep and have done for many years. This can help with preventing some backaches too. I have a feather one, like a pad, you can get them cheaply, rather than foam or synthetic as this can be too hot. A cotton cover you can wash helps too.
I’ve had a similar problem the last 5 years. I sleep on my side and it’s like nails on a chalkboard when one knee is on top of the other. A pillow of appropriate comfort does the trick.
Dear Blueoscar, A HUGE welcome to this site! I agree with Pingem, as I use a pillow between my knees for sleeping also. I've had ataxia for 20+ years, although I found out in 2017, through genetic exome testing, that my ataxia was due to Niemann Pick C (NPC) disease. I have a difficult time getting comfortable when I sleep, and find the pillow really helps! My best to you and your husband..., ;o)
Weighted pillows are awesome!
Welcome to this forum!! I have a similar problem, trying to sleep. So, I either use a portion of my big comforter, to go between my knees, or I use a long, narrow pillow.
I can only sleep turned almost on my tummy which does solve this. Best wishes
Sorry I see from reading the other posts that you are going to be diagnosed! STILL GETTING THE HANG OF THIS SITE.
I found the information on CAG interesting. Does this include all genetic ataxia or just SCA 6?
Does anyone know?
I found that Baclofen tablets help as CBD oil
