WAV and Adaptions; any help greatly appreciated.

I have finally got round to sending my application of for a grant towards a cost of a WAV and any adaptions that I might need.

For those of you who have got WAV’s is there a particular make or model you would recommend? I am looking for an internal transfer vehicle or drive from wheelchair.

For those of you that can drive what adaptions do you use? I have hand controls but my left arm isn’t strong enough or coordinated enough to steer with and I don’t trust my right foot enough.

Thanks in advance 😊

We are just getting a WAV for our son (18 years old with ataxia) through Motability.

Just wanted to mention that they also have a grant available to go towards the deposit on a WAV if you are eligible.

On their website there is a huge range of WAV vehicles and a variety of adaptation options, a great search engine to help you find the size and model of a car to suit your needs.

Once you know which ones would suit you, you can always go and look at second hand options (if you want to purchase a car privately).

Most adaptation specialist (listed on Motability website) offer new or used VAWs.

It all depends whether you want to use your PIP towards it or if you want to own it yourself.

We chose Motability as a much easier option and they offer a stellar service. Extremely knowledgeable, helpful staff, specialist assessors if you struggle to choose a vehicle...

Oh wow that's a long time! My current car has to go back in December. I hope you do not mind me asking will your son be driving the WAV?
