🙂 I’ve seen similar posts Allison, you’re not unusual with this sort of thing. It’s likely that it’s part and parcel of your specific diagnosis. Some of us are just more sensitive to light touch. Mention it to your Neurologist, and you should get an explanation.
I fell heavily recently, and fully expected to have spectacular bruising. Instead, what I’ve had has been weeks of tortuous pain, but not a bruise in sight 🙄
I did mention it to my neurologist in June, but she didn't comment or give me any explanation! Actually I don't think she's that clued up on Ataxia 😒.
She also said that Ataxia doesn't directly cause depression. My humble opinion is that it can cause an imbalance in the brain which could give depression. But I'm no expert, just a sufferer LOL
😏 You’re right Allison (about depression). Although Ataxia may not directly cause it, dealing with Ataxia symptoms certainly can. Just as well we’re clued up 😉
Hi folks, I too get unexplained bruises etc....... I have no feeling in my legs below the knees due to diabetes, when I lose my balance and fall over, I may stubb my toes, causing them to bleed, but having no feelings in my legs means I dont discover any injuries until I get undressed for my bath!🤨
Dear. Alison, my legs are always bruised and often I don’t know how. I also have little purple bruises (purpurea? I forget the name). Apart from the bruises being sore at first, I can’t really say I have pain or I blame old age. Trousers are the order of the day, lol. Linda 🤗
Hello yes I really think those with Ataxia bruise easily, I have been getting a bruise from just a slight bump into something due to balance issues. This was a problem years ago.
I don't feel hurt either, I hate hugs I don't like to be touched myself. People look at people with Ataxia like they are not there age, because life for them is different not wanting to be touched isn't a disconnect. I'm just not in the mood for people who don't want to educate themselves about Ataxia suffering.
