Massage?

I had a massage from the physiotherapist this morning and I am now exhausted and in agony!!

This happens every time I have a massage. Thankfully I'm not very often massaged. Massage is on my back, hips and neck.

My husband's analysis of this is that the muscles have relaxed and are trying to go into the correct place (so not my usual posture!). Which hurts cos I'm not used to that.

Does this happen to anyone else, and can anyone explain why to me please?

Thanks

Love Alison xx

Hi Alison.

I dont really know as I’m no expert, but perhaps its like working out at the gym, and coming home exhausted?

Question?? Why has your profile name been preceeded with..... ww ?

Hi Don,

thanks for your reply.

Usually I return from the physio feeling exhausted. I've been in bed since returning today for 41/2 hours and still feel pretty awful! This really happens every time after a back and neck massage 😟

I changed my internet address some time ago and the only way to keep my forum name was to add something to it. Therefore ww for wibbly wobbly was added. I had to change my internet address as I changed my internet supplier. . .

Sorry now I remember. Oh my memory is often so bad! Hahahaha

The previous email address was hacked and I received some pretty horrible emails!!

Sorry to hear of your email problem, why do they do it ??

I would suggest as much as you may enjoy a massage, is it worth going through the pain and discomfort afterwards, personally I would say not!!! 😀😘 Xx

Alison, I don't get massages but I do make myself walk quite a distance sometimes because there's no traffic or pedestrians getting in the way - and it's slightly downhill going back home from the local hospital.

But the next day! My legs are aching so much like dragging weights around with me so I go to bed for a few hours. It helps a little. I suppose a couple of paracetamols might help but never think of that. I too have CA.

I agree with your hubby Alison, if you feel stronger after the pain has gone, keep doing it, if not, try something else, but keep doing something to keep active. I like gardening but I need a rest day after I do some... xxx

I just recently had a massage and my therapist explained the reasoning as I had similar reactions in the past. It makes sense somewhat. Your body is releasing toxins and with sca as our diagnosis we have an abundance of that. If you notice when you first start walking after a massage you are even more unsteady. It’s because that’s the way the body is supposed to be. Unfortunately we move everyday in an over compensating position.

Give it 2-3 days and you will start to feel more fluid in your movement. Sore but fluid. The key is to drink lots of water with a pinch of mineral supplements in it (pinch of unrefined sea salt) all day after the massage.

It’s gotten to a point where I now get a massage every two weeks.

My back would hurt for weeks I need a massage for 24hrs if I could have one, I believe all of what we deal with is due to are underlying health. I guess these signs in are bodies are just a progression of are health conditions.
