Hi, that’s the same thing that happened to me. I now have an unknown type of Ataxia.

Yes and I have always thought there was some connection. A lot of people have mentioned having acid reflux too.

Hello Sefsha,

Don't know if this helps but I had fallen out of bed twice within minutes of each other. The paramedics came and took me downstairs on a stretcher but I don't remember anything until I was in a bed in A&E. Long story short, 3 weeks in hospital then transferred to physio hospital for 3 more weeks so could learn to walk again (with stick). Discharge papers read cerebellum ataxia and I was taken home. County council supplied equipment for me, as I live alone and no family, for extra help around the house. Today I manage to walk a short distance but feel the struggle later on.

Thanks for your replies, there must be some connection with the Vertigo , the experts say

vertigo is caused by a virus , could that have brought on the Ataxia ? And messed our lives up.

Yes, I developed loose particles in my inner ear after a fall and had 3 years repeated 'treatment' before that went, that were initially blamed for all the vertigo, nystagmus etc (BPPV). BUT I now know I was already almost imperceptibly developing ataxia. Luckily, after reading online Professor Hadjivassiliou I realised gluten was likely a major factor and indeed it is. I am considerably improved but still very affected, very restricted. I am now doing exercises for eye stability and balance, my balance exercises are easier, the vision ones just a tiny bit. The physio thinks my brain never relearned correct process after the BPPV, fingers crossed, unless something else is going on, as yet unfound that is slowing potential recovery. Best wishes, it is a 'blooming' nuisance!

Hi sefsha

I have 'positional vertigo' about 6 years ago. And now diagnosed with SPG7 after loads of tests and finally after 3 years my gene test diagnosed SPG7.

Yes I have had vertigo as a child all the way till now, it was worse when I was a child now its somewhat present. It didn't bother me as a child, I couldn't focus in class because I was to bizzy watching it like they where snow flakes.

Yes, sort of. Hi, I have been diagnosed with Cerebral Ataxia 3. Technically ive always had it as it’s hereditary but my Ataxia symptoms began to be more noticeable straight after having Acute Labrynthitis. I didn’t realise this was similar for a number of Ataxians x
