Hi all ATAXIA'S -------- Usually an eating problem means -- Anorexia, or Balonium-- I think that is the word, eating then make yourself sick !!! --- I have not got that, but --- I can eat very sensibly all day --- Then - Oh THEN -- just before bedtime, this craze to EAT EAT EAT, -- anything sweet, chocolate, grapes. nuts, crisps, cakes , biscuits, cheese, oh , I feel so ashamed of myself, also love a g&T, 2 --- this has gone on for the last 3 years, I am 77 yrs.old, so not a youngster . it is like I change so suddenly from just knitting, watching a film, or having a chat with a friend on the phone, --- time to get ready for bed-- THEN WHAM, the craze to eat, not hungry, not thinking of anything, it just seems like a switch goes on in my brain that I can't control, Anybody able to Identify with me ???? Thanks again for listening

Hi, yes i am exactly the same,i eat healthy but then i have this awful urge to eat even though i am not hungry, all my good eating goes out the window,i don't know how to handle it or what to do about it,i do know it's nothing to do with Ataxia. I am 70 and really do need to be able to keep to healthy, but this problem just will not go away.......

Hi TELEEN

The eating urges you describe are not directly related to ataxia. They might be related to your emotional response in being diagnosed with ataxia or the difficulties having ataxia is causing you.

Best wishes

Harriet
