Leg pain

The last few months I have been having pain in my lower legs when I walk too far. (Too far for me is not even a kilometer.) My muscle next to my shin hurts really bad to the point that it keeps me up at night and sometimes even a few nights. Also my ankle and foot get sore. It's getting to the point that I'm scared to walk for fear of pain. Then on the other hand I want to keep walking because I know how important it is. It's a use it or lose it concept.

Can anyone relate? Any suggestions?

I know how you feel, I have almost the same problem

I can walk a little one day using stick, with pain in my legs and the next day I can tell by aching so I use my scooter but that also has its set back because the sitting position for an hour or more has affected my muscles to the point of wanting to sit and rest at home. What a vicious circle to go through. Sorry, have no suggestions

Yes, I am beginning to get leg and foot pains. More cramp in my calf muscles and ankle and toe joints. I have put it down to an abnormal gait and muscles working harder. Fatigue is worse for me, finding it harder to walk the same distances as I did even last week. Don't know the answer.

Morning Meekster, I too get pains to my legs - mainly around the knees, back of top of the legs and ankles. When I go out (not often) I use crutches, not sure how much they help alleviate pain, but still have to rest afterwards. I can only walk about 100 yards before having to stop and rest. My physio gave me some exercises to do at home to help leg and ankle muscles. If you would like copies pm your email address and I will send them to you.

Living alone I only do things when I can and have learnt what I can do and when I can do them. I am determined to carry on as long as I can, while I can, and not give up. My advice is to be positive and dont overdo things, this might mean you have to be selfish at times but its YOUR health.

I have just bought a recliner/riser/massage chair to try and see if this helps. It has a massage function for the legs and feet. Will post on here my thoughts about it at a later date.

GOOD LUCK

I'm very curieus about the recliner. Sounds wonderfull!

I'm currently working with a physio myself. I'm hoping for better results

Thanks for your replies! We may not be able to solve all the problems together but it's always nice to know we're not alone in this 😊

Hi Meekster, got chair delivered a few days ago. Works well. Has massage function for lower legs, thighs, lower back and shoulder area. These can be used individually or a combination of 2, 3 or all areas. Heater to lower back. Recliner and foot rest plus can be used as a riser to help getting out of the chair easier. I have used the massager to lower legs every day so far and a bit early to know how it is helping with pain but I have found they feel 'easier' and not so stiff. I dont use it all the time but found the riser is good for when I am dodgy on the legs when trying to stand.

Got it through Amazon and for £300 good value for the money.
