I have Ataxia, was diagnosed 2011 still being tested for which type. I have noticed my condition getting worse when that happens does the pain increase? I have had a lumbar puncture which was fine but now having an MRI scan next week. The pain recently has been so bad I have not been able to get out of bed but staying in the same position to try to ease the pain causes cramp in my neck. I am really lost what to do. I have severe mental health issue so try not to take to many painkillers as the way I feel not too sure if I will know when to stop. 😥😥

Hi Wendygirl,
I have neck cramps a lot, due to dystonia. I used to have Botox injections for this but it did not suit me so I stopped it. I now take diazepam, this I find helpful with my twitching and cramps, but I do not take much of it as it can be addictive. Heat can help a bit too. Try to stay positive and maybe your MRI scan will give you some answers. I don't have a proper diagnosis, which is hard at times. At the minute I am trying some fine teas like organic natural rooibos, moringa dawn and masala chai, etc. They have lots of health benefits like, iron, vitamins, antioxidants, potassium, zinc and some help muscles and immune system, so I thought I would try these.
Maybe hydrotherapy could help you, the warm pool water helped me with pain and made me feel a little stronger, ask your GP if you think this could help you. Staying in bed too long does not help me either, it stops my tremors but like you give me cramps too. Sitting makes my spine hurt also so I have to move around and change position, it is no fun. I hope your doctors can help you soon with this and your pains ease. Take care
Suzie
Hi Wendy girl . Have you tried feverfew for migraines? Health food shops like holland and barratt should stock this. You take a supplement each day to help prevent them.also forehead rub may be worth a try if you don't like taking too many pills which I totally understand.😊
