Over the last few months I’ve started getting shooting/sharp pin prick like pains in my toes, fingers and eyes plus burning sessions in my thumbs. Only happen a few times at first, but now happens several times a week. They don’t last long and I can go hours and days without them. Does anyone else with Ataxia have these issues?

shooting pains and burning sensations in hands and feet
Hi Millwalben, I get pains in my thumbs & numbness in my fingers, also not all the time -but seems to be getting more severe. Toes are OK but having problems with eyes & putting that down hay fever?? Be interesting to hear more replies to your question. xx
Hi Millwallben
I get pains in my feet, hands and also my eyes, I was told it is nerve pain which you can get medication to help. Visit your GP or Neurologists.
Stay strong my friend 👍🏻
🤔 These sensations are likely linked to Neuropathy. If so…medication may be offered.
Thank you, I'm wondering at what level I might need to get medication for them. At the moment they are not constant, so just painful when they happen, but not getting in the way of anything.
🙂 If you are wondering when medication will be necessary…it likely depends on how bearable the pain is..and will probably be different for everybody.
🤔 If it’s some time until your next appointment, discuss the symptoms with your GP.

Hi yes i get that in my feet
Hi Millwallben. I have been misdiagnosed too many times that I can no longer keep track but when I was diagnosed with neuropathy I was prescribed 100mg of Gabapentin 3x a day. I received instant relief! My pin and needles started in my feet. It then progressed to my body feeling like I was on fire. I would fill up the tub with cold water and stand there until I was so tired I could sleep. The Gabapentin changed everything with this symptom. I’ve heard the side effects are not good but honestly I’ve never looked into it as I receive so much relief I kinda don’t think I need to know about them. I hope this helps.
