my Ataxia

Hello my friends, if I may address you as such…….I was diagnosed with Ataxia by my Neurologist in Febuary this year, although I’ve had the symptoms for as long as I can remember, but he didn’t say which Ataxia it is?

my elder Brother told me recently, when I was born, I had body tremors, and looked like a skinned rabbit…….. to my knowledge, no other member of my family had Ataxia, and I was the youngest son of seven sons.

I have to use furniture, walls and doorframes to get around indoors, and it doesn’t help having Dropped Foot Syndrome.

My local council recently asked me if I still needed the Disability Parkin bay outside my house, and will my condition improve?? What don’t they understand when I tell them there’s no cure, and Ataix will only get worse.

I apologise for a long post.

Hi Don, Isn't it anger-making when these idiots ask silly questions like that. In any case, I believe that even if you weren't disabled, outside your house you should have a parking bay. When are they going to cut the c**p and give elderly people their dues? I'm happy to say that today I got the good news that I have been awarded blue badges. It's a Saturday so I can't pay for it today and get that bit out of the way. I have to wait until Monday when I have plenty of other things to do.

When they come to renew them I'll be five years older and while the latest wedge fracture may have healed, I might well have had another one by then. If not follow in my cousin's footsteps and have a crumbling spine. The only end to pain is well . . .

🙂 Hi Don…it’s ages since we heard from you…I hope you are ok…apart from the irritating parking bay issue.

If you feel you need ‘back-up’ with this issue…you could ring the Helpline at AtaxiaUK. They can offer advice about all sorts of problems.

Stay strong my friend and fight for what is your right. You have a disability that cannot be cured and gets worse as time goes on.

That’s more than enough to get a parking space.

Stay well my friend and keep fighting 💪🏻

That’s me Paul, get out and enjoy life, until my last day on this earth, taking a weeks vacation down in the West Country on 7th July.

That's my birthday! I'll be 39, what's your secret to being so full of life - despite life's setbacks. Mine is my faith.

Hi Sherena…… I have too many medical problems to mention here, most are controllable, most are curable, but one has no known cure….. I am 80 years old now, I tend to put my medical problems to the back of my mind and get on with living my life as best I can.

I am thankful for waking every morning, I get through by enjoying music, I used to post music here, and got a good response from other members, but one member complained to Admin saying musin was inappropriate for this site, Admin banned me from posting music

Like you, I get out and about in my power-chair

Take care and stay safe.

Don..
