when I do too much I suffer from migraines. These are due to my neck contracting, which the Drs and physio say is due the concentration that I need to do things.
during the last 10 years I have developed an allergy to anti-inflammatories and paracetamol. So no ibuprofen for the migraines!! I take tramadol for the migraines. But they make me sick.
I feel like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard stone when I get a migraine. I must take something otherwise I'm ill for days! But then I'm sick from the tramadol.
just wondered if other people have this priblem and what they take and what works for them before I go and see my dr.
thanks for any advice

hi Cocoa, I don't think that I have much chance a find someone here. I live in rural France.
could you explain more please? Exactly how do the movements help you? What are the movements, cos maybe I could discuss this with my physiotherapist who I see twice a week for hourly sessions.
To be honest I'm really fed up with these migraines.. Last week we had family to stay and we went out for lunch and the had a wander around the town (I was in my electric wheelchair) as they've never been here before (we were not shopping). We were out for 6 hours in total. I got a migraine, took a tramadol, then was sick in the car on the way home. Rest of the evening I was in bed!! My neck is still really contracted.
I take co dydramol or cocodamol which are similar to tramadol but I can tolerate them with care. For me the trick was sleeping with sufficent head support so I wake up with a relatively relaxed neck, and also keeping really well hydrated, which for me means no caffeine and plenty of Red Bush tea.
I'm not sure if any of those medications have paracetamol in them?
I think my pillow is fine in bed. These def occur when I do too much. Usually when I go out. But I refuse to not go out and do nice things. I really don't go out for long very often.
🙂 A friend said she got relief from migraines by taking oxygen, on prescription from her GP. This is said to be very helpful for cluster headaches but not much is documented relating to migraine 🤔xB
When I get headaches I take ibuprofen liquid form this helps me, but I do not take it a lot as it can upset my stomach. I have neck dystonia so this can give me headaches at times, I used to have Botox injections for this, but they made me feel ill the last time I went for them so I did not return, thought I would have a break from it. Have you tried heat pads or cool pads these sometimes can help.
heat pads do help a little, but not enough once the migraine has really set in.
I've just read about neck dystonia and am wondering if I have that. My head is not at an angle at all, but it contracts all the time. I don't even have to do much for it to contract. I also suffer from anxiety, depression and stress which I never suffered from before I was ill. In fact before I could handle lots going on at the same time really easily!!!! I feel so different now☹ . The only thing that really works is a massage from the physiotherapist. Last week it was so contracted that when I went for my session he couldn't decontract it, but however it was a lot better 🙂
I can't take the ibuprofen cos of my allergy, which really is a pain in the butt!
I will speak to the specialist soon and see what he can suggest.
Hi I am always have anxiety too, cannot seem to get rid of it. It may be dystonia sounds a bit like it, ask your specialist what he thinks. A lot of tablets do not suit me either, my body just does not like them. I am suppose to have a variant on the PNKD gene but I do not match all the symptoms of this, my tremors are a daily thing not just now and then, not unless it is a different type, my doctors are not sure. Hope your appointment goes well for you and gives you some answers.
