Six weeks ago I finally got my home health assessment; this is after fighting for it for nearly two years. Does anyone know how much longer I should wait? I was previously a Payroll Manager and it seems there is quite a shortage of good ones out there now, but I know I have to wait for the outcome of this as it would mean a back payment of benefit of over £5.000. I am also stuck as the Gov does have a program called “Access to work” some of you might even be on it so I would be interested to hear from you.
But to be part of the scheme you either have to be in work when you are diagnosed or have the support of a work group. I am back to feeling like between a rock and a hard place.
I already went through a five month appeal with the DWP last year because they cut all my benefit; you know all of the £73.10 they so generously give us! Anyone with any practical help I would love to hear from you, I don’t want to start another complaints procedure as I know they need little excuse to stop any payments, but I really am getting approached by possible Employers directly that I have not told I even have a disability.

it is not the same and thank you for getting back to me, the DWP deal with the basic amount of money that they will pay you. I have applied to PIP and get money for basic and mobility, honey if you feel that you are getting what you feel you are entitled to then don't worry about me.
Get onto the DWP office, there should be a telephone number in one of your letters, not Capita or whoever did assessment. I found the office chap I spoke with about my assessment problems very helpful and he managed to organise a re-assessment (twice) before I finally got the PIP sorted.
Dear DeniseLB, I live in the USA, so I'm sorry I can't be of any help to you. Just wanted you to know I'm thinking of you and hoping all goes well! My best to you..., ;o)
