I am looking for a lightweight folding invalid scooter which will fold easily to go in the boot of my car. Unfortunately it will be my wife who will have to load and unload it into our car so weight and ease of assembly is very important
Any help or advise would be much appreciated
Regards to everyone. Ted

I have a quingo flyte which folds down and then uses a ramp in the car and remote control to load it in the car. No lifting except sliding the ramps out of the car and a good range and stabitity on the scooter.
Hi Ted, My friend has sent me details of the Lexis Light Foldable Mobility Scooter. It"s on an American site, but all the details are there & videos (I would have sent it,but don"t have the computer skills!) Whilst it"s expensive,it looks like it can be used around the house. Also,Paypal do 6mth "terms". I shall ask friend to help find supplier(S.Spain) If you need more details,I can copy out the site address?? Good luck on "the hunt"....keep us informed please. Regards Sandra.
Hello Ted, there seem to be two sorts of "portable/boot" scooters, the older ones which break up into several pieces, still awkward and heavy in my limited experience, and the folders.
Monarch in England make a Mobie, which is manually foldable but that's all I know as just as I was about to get one they brought out the Smartie which suits me very well. It folds or unfolds at the press of a remote control button, it fits into buses trains and planes. Also made in America by a firm called "Solax", obviously a joint venture.
It is a bit smaller than the normal 'runabout' scooter of course, so one has to look out for slopes etc. but for me, it's excellent. I also have a more normal one for local running about, which helps.
At the moment I am using a minimo plus which folds in half and goes in the boot of the car. I am using crutches round the house but for how long I am not quite sure
