Reduce aches, pains, misery, cramps ...

To reduce my Pain and discomfort I eat as healthily as I can i.e. 75% of my 1 plate per day is dark green, i snack on fruit, bananas reduce cramps, I eat 100% whole grains and drink or consume as many super foods as possible ie pomegranate, blueberry, dark green veg ... Also figs or anything that's good for stomach health. Stomach health seems to be the key to pretty much everything, apart from your hardware.

I know changing your diet is a pain in the ass lifestyle change, but its preferrable to pain and misery. ALL YOU CAN DO IS BE ALL YOU CAN BE ! Banish those toxins that are constantly at the door.

A super greens drink is a reasonable option but NO replacement for a ton of real spinach and brocoli.

Avoid anything 'nice'. It'll be rammed full of sugar, salt or processed or spicy.

Maybe the odd treat just once a week but this'll soon stop as it'll make you feel relatively crap!

I just adore those small oranges - can not remember their proper name. So juicy, lovely-jubbly.

I do have quite a struggle getting the peel off though - quite comical really now I think of it.

I love my cups of tea and would not change my cuppa for anything :-)

Love broccoli and cabbage and carrots and "mushrooms".

Never tasted figs, so I`ve got to ask, what they taste like - suppose it is everyone to their own taste really.

I`d try anything if it helps to settle my stomach, which the last several days or so has been giving me so much bother.

satsumas ?

know what you mean about peeling them. just get a carer to peel a bunch and put in an airtight container in fridge. alkaline on the outside quite acidic fruit on the inside though. prob not the best for gut rot. better to go for bananas, blueberries x 1000 (get a plant or 2) apples and pears ok too. cantelope melon isnt bad.

figs are v nice. pop in middle east. get mine @ tesco. dont get fig rolls as pastry dodgy.

gut rot/tum fizz - lemonade, dry toast, milk of magnesia helps. try a good antacid.

Acidophilus or Yakult is pretty good daily

This is very true, I feel so much better doing this. Chocolate is my biggest downfall but I limit it to week-ends or don't buy it at all. I do luv a glass of wine though (week-ends only & at home). Eating healthy is the best!

glad that you feel comfortable enough to enjoy your choc and wine (although both have benefits in moderation). choc has serotonin which regulates sleep which strikes me as integral and red grapes we all know about circulatory benefits.

Since January I have been eating very healthily. Fresh veg, fruit, nuts, dried fruit, porridge, meat, fish in a bid to reduce my cholesterol. Cholesterol levels are now good - but my illness is much worse. My SCA is definitely genetic. What type do you have?

my CA is idiopathic. probly gene. strange illness is worse. is the progression faster or your wobbles more ? if you loose weight you will wobble more for some months. ie your body is like a tuning fork. it takes time for you power:weight ratio to stabilise.

Im not convinced cholesterol is the baddy they say. how many people do you know in the cemetary with low cholesterol!?

if you eat healthy and in abundance it will follow that chol will lower anyway. main thing is to ditch the sugar, processed, salt, spices and eat loads of anti-free-radicals (hooligans roaming free vandalising and destroying your cells).

you wont be able to stop these thugs in their tracks but you can make it bloody difficult for them!

Forgot to say - only 2 spices I know that 'bring something to the party'- Turmeric and Black pepper. Turmeric is the colouring in curries (not flavour) and very good anti-inflammatory and BP is a strong anti-toxin.
