Hello to all my friends, I am looking for some of your sound advice, I am on day 2 of my rescue pack prednisolne 8 per day for 5 days + clarithromycin antibiotics 14 day course 2 per day, what I am wondering is do I still take my 4 puffs of symbicort 400 preventer inhaler whilst I am on this rescue pack? I feel quite nauseous & breathless taking all this medication, I feel perhaps it is maybe too much to take each day ,my mouth is also very dry & I have a metallic taste in my mouth too, I was wondering will all those symptoms subside as time goes on, I have asthma + bronchiectasis. All advice & help greatly received..Thank you..xx

Yes definitely continue taking your preventer inhaler as it builds up in your system. If you find it is a lot then can you spread it out? The inhalers when you get out of bed, wait 30/45 minutes before having breakfast and all tablets? Take tables before heading to bed then inhalers again very last thing?

I find spreading them out helps me. and make sure you are eating before you are taking prednisolone :)

Please, take everything as prescribed. Sometimes it takes the whole 'rescue' pack to make you feel a little better. Please, eat before the prednisalone and try to drink lots. Hope you feel better soon. Please, please get back in touch with your doc/asthma nurse if your not much better the day before the steroids finish.

Hi Primrose123, sorry you are feeling so rough. I would absolutely keep taking your preventer you need to keep a consistent dose. I was really unwell a few years back and ended up on clarithromycin and it gave me a horrible taste in my mouth - revolting and it totally knocked me out - I ended up snoozing multiple times a day. I found that having polo mints helped my mouth a bit and drinking loads (my weakness is tea!). If you are still feeling bad ask for a telephone consult with your GP. Wishing you a speedy recovery. x

Thank you so much RSKi,for your helpful reply,my first port of call was to ask my sister to bring me polo mints as you had advised, secondly I am starting to drink more liquids as Westie22 had advised me too, regarding the clarthithromycin antibiotics I have to say that they are the most dreadful medication to consume, with horrid side effects,I am only 3 days on them just now & still have 11 days to go, 😥so I am sincerely hoping for a vast improvement when I finish the course, I am again taking your excellent advice RSKi & am just going to make a Big pot of tea,( I am very fond of tea too) Thanks again for all your helpful tips RSKi, I very much appreciate your kindness,I wish you good health for the future, Take care, love, & God bless..x
