When to take prednisolone

I have a rescue pack of pred and my breathing has been getting worse since Friday. I usually take pred in the morning after breakfast, but I don't feel i can wait for tomorrow morning. Does anyone know if it's OK to take them in the early evening?

You can but your more likely to suffer insomnia and some of the other side effects (I think vivid dreams is one of them)...I have taken a dose in the night and then a dose the following morning and just ha e to remember I'm not going to sleep well... but I can live with that not being able to breathe however I can't

Thanks for your reply, I took them after my evening meal as I was desperate. Like you I'd rather be sleepless than breathless!

I was told to take the first dose in the evening (as soon as I could get it filled) and then take the next one in the morning and continue in the mornings.

Thank you. It's confusing when one GP says take in the morning and another says any time.

Yeah, I found it confusing too. The first time I took it, I took them all in the evenings (with slightly disrupted sleep) and it wasn't until I mentioned it to my nurse that she said clarified that after the first dose you do mornings.

I take maintenance dose of 20mg daily (been on oral steroids continuously since 1991) and will take more when required irrespective of time of day

I have been on oral steroids since 2012 and usually take them in the morning however if my GP has told me to increase then I can do that irrespective of the time.

Hope this helps
