Same happened to me. Consultant wrote to Dr saying I had COPD. I asked Dr which disease. Was told no point in knowing. End of. Was given Ventolin inhaler (salbutamol). Went for check up a few weeks later, told Dr I was getting discomfort in chest, she said it wasn't inhaler but indigestion (never suffered in my life) but did change me to Spiriva on suggestion of nurse. No more chest discomfort. Well fancy that! Shows how much interest my Dr takes. Have absolutely no faith in her and feel like I'm finding out everything from here.

I can understand that. I went through the same with 3 doctors in my practice. It's rare today to find a sympathetic compassionate doctor who puts your mind at rest.

I have salbutamol which I think I use too much, Symbicort which I was told to take one puff twice a day but increase to 2 puffs if I felt the need (which I do) and Spiriva once a day at the same time. My chest still feels tight and I struggle to breathe a lot of the time if active, though sometimes it's tight when I'm supposedly relaxing. Will definitely ring BLF tomorrow to get more info.

This is a new one to me i thought copd was an illness, all i got told was that i had copd, wasn't aware i should've asked which one...even more confused now. My GP gave me inhalers and said would see me again in a year. Been to see nurse today for advice on diet, exercise and if was using inhaler properly and asked her for my fev1 as i'd read on here about it....after few questions she has now referred me for pulmonary rehabilitation course.

I'm finding it all confusing to be honest. I'm seeing the nurse this morning for blood tests so will try to find out more. I've had a pounding headache and pains in my chest since yesterday. Last time this happened they put it down to fibromyalgia hoping it's the same today

Saw the nurse and asked her how I could find out which COPD I have. She said it wasn't emphysema cos my lungs aren't blue? but that was all. my spirometer reading said I had mild COPD but she didn't give me any figures.
