Hello and welcome minimark2. Do you know what level you have been diagnosed at ? It doesn't matter too much as we all seem to be different. I'm at Stage 4 but seem to do better than some who aren't quite so bad. The best thing is to ask as many questions as you like so you can get as much information as you can.
Morning Puff, happy bank holiday weekend xx
You too peeg!
happy bank holiday to you puff and the mrs,xxx
Also to you TS3 !
Hi Minimark2, let me be the one of the 1st to welcome you to the site.
Just keep coming on to read posts, questions, you will learn much to improve your lot.
There's also a great deal of information on the various lung conditions the BLF, click on the red balloon or about us above. They will also send you the information too.
We're a great, friendly bunch with many levels of experience. Many are at a severe level of copd and lead great, active & fulfilled lives.
Exercise is very important to keep your lungs as healthy as possible (goes without saying you must give up the cigs if you do smoke).
Eat a very heathy diet, keep to a healthy weight, avoid colds coughs, build a strong immune system in order to fight off the bugs, have regular flu jab + pneumonia jab, be proactive in caring for yourself as well as getting the best treatment from medics to suit yourself (we're all different).
Knowledge is power in my book. General Practitioners don't usually know much about copd so it's important to know as much as you can. Keep asking questions, however trivial, someone will have a reply or point you in the right direction.
Good luck to you, I'm sure you'll get loads more replies. Peeg
Hi minimark2. I'm stage 4 but still quite active and happy. Just keep as active as you can eat healthily and don't sit and mope which I think most people do after first diagnoses. I did. You will feel among friends here and will receive much help and information.
Great post from Peeg & others,welcome to our group,please do what's suggested,& you'll be ok.xx

Hi Minimark2 you will have to get a shorter name ,I am out of puff just typing it ha ha .I was diagnosed with COPD 3 last year but through ,quiting smoking, diet ,and exersize have gone down to COPD 2 as you count 4 as the worst I am over the moon with my result ,You never get 100% better once diagnosed but you can get off your butt and help yourself a lot.Have you been to the Clinic yet so that they can evaluate you ?.They do a 6 minute walk over here in Holland to see how far you can get in the 6 mins and ,they have just discovered that this test is one of the most important ones to help diagnose COPD .If you havn't been to a clinic get on to your Doctor ,thats the first step to helping yourself .All the best .Terry
as others have said ,you will get good advice and help of members on hear, welcome you have us now to look forward to,xxx

I was a little scared when 1st diagnosed it felt like it was the end, but things are defo looking up since i came on here, thanks everyone
they say to exercise is important to keep your lungs healthy,i can not exercise i have arthritis in my ankle and my spine is curved, now with my breathing been bad i am stuck up stairs, going mad.....
if i could get the phllegm up it would help.....
Hi Minimark2, welcome to the site, hope you are having a good bank holiday to spite the not so good recent diagnosis. That's brilliant to have given up the ciggy's, but one day at a time is the motto. With good medical care and exercise with in your limits you can lead a fairly normal life for many years to come, but beware of infections as they are not good for your condition. Hope to see more of you on the site
Hello and welcome
Well done for giving up the cigs, hope you go from strength to strength.
Kim xxxx
Well it's certainly true this site is absolutely abysmal to try and navigate around. I wonder just what they we're thinking personally as it's only redeeming feature is that it was built visually upon the Twitter Bootstrap web toolkit.
As for what you are in store for with COPD it is different for everyone but something you need to try hard not to get you down and to learn from and come to terms with bit by bit and the same applies here in each particular topic one step, question or insight at a time minimark2....
