Your doc will be the best person to advise you on this.
If your GP prescribed the tablets then do keep taking them - anaemia in COPD will contribute to any fatigue and breathlessness you are experiencing giving you a 'double whammy' . If you have simply been taking them off your own back because you suspect you may be anaemic, then it might be worth stopping them for a while and then asking your GP for a blood test. As anaemia can intensify symptoms in those with moderate or severe COPD, it is well worth anyone who suspects they may be anaemic getting tested. P
I have been taking iron tablets for the last 7 months at 210 mg daily I was diagnosed with copd nearly 2 yrs ago, I don't take them for anemia but taking them anyway and will be taking them for many more months to come until my blood issues sort themselves out.. I wouldn't worry too much chick because with iron tablets your body only takes what it needs and gets rid of the rest..
not sure if iron is contraindicated (i.e. should not be taken) with COPD. I take lots of supplements that I feel helps..including Coq10, garlic, omega 3, vit c, d, b12 etc, as well as a herbal remedy. Be good to know what are best to take, wouldn't it... some info here ... raysahelian.com/copd.html
