Me again and really fed up

Hi again everyone just an update on my haemophilus journey. I have just had a text from GP to say I still have it. This will be the fourth lot of ab since Dec,the first was in the hosp (without diagnoses just symptoms and high blood infection test) Then two lots of doxy one for longer.Did go and see my new great grandson as receptionist mistakenly said I was cured and the next time said satisfactory! It has been up to me the last couple of times to ring surgery and ask for another sputum test.Don't know what they will put me on now (the hospital ab was ammoxiclav) so it's been a horrible few weeks. The trouble is by the time you have finished the ab sent it off to lab and the waited it can take over a week and by this time it grows again.Everytime I finished the ab (felt so weak and tired on them) but then felt better for a few days and then the cough and sputum would start again.I haven't seen my little two year old great granddaughter since early dec when she brought it home from nursery bless her. My new great grandson (six weeks old) thankfully showed no symptoms as I think this infection is the same one that gives children menengitis and he's too young for vaccinations so been a worrying couple of months xx

I've often needed 2x100mg a day of doxycycline for 12wks to clear HI but try to get more before the course finishes or you aren't clearing it

I was told haemophilus often lurks, but as long as its down to a manageable level that's liveable with. It sounds as if your doctors think differently. Perhaps because you have young great grandchildren. Mine seemed to disappear once I started on Azith. Don't give up hope; I'm sure it will give in eventually. xxx
