Inspired my Maud Lewis - Was going to include her tulips, but kept it miminalistic. For another time.
Maudie was both with birth defects and had junivile RA and this followed into her being an adult. worse she had it with much pain in her hands.
She lived in a 10 x 9,5 foot house, yes you read correct and one bedroom upstairs.
She sold her art to selected few at first, but she later had people in their droves, driving to buy her art, and I believe to see her home.

Ern, thanks so much for introducing me to the works of Maud Lewis. So interesting. Here is a picture of the inside of her house. (Though it looks like a painting.) I love how you have painted the white cat, the outline is very clever. Again, it is a very interesting painting, and I love the chosen colours.

When i lived in as a childrens Nanny ( many moons ago), we had a beautiful white cat whose name was Snowflake.
Sounds a good name no reference to sex with that . Frosty might be another one or Kosset as in the carpet.
At a previous job there was a colleague there who had an extremely bossy white cat called Elvis!
Out femail cat is bossy - she dominates the male

Purrrrrfect. One of our cats was a large white male with a tabby head and tail markings. With the sun out today we would have been popping his sunscreen on nose and ears. So a wonderful memory from your fantastic painting . Of course flowers in art always welcome. I enjoy looking at Maud's work since you brought her to my attention. Thank you and take care. xx

Yes I did too. First cat was all black. Partial to a Tabby and always adored Grey cats but not had the privilege to share our home with one. Persian take some grooming but are spectacular . So Smudge teh name lives on with Don. xx
Now since narried, had ginger/black/black and white, and a huge grey, The grey tom . was huge Never had a Persion sinse a child. we have a long haired black she cat, that often needs grooming.xx
All my cats and childhood were short haired. BUT ALL CATS are wonderful !!!. I sometimes visited a couple as a child who had a wonderful grey tom, called Smokey. From that moment on I was smitten with a grey. They used to give me lovely treats. I think one called Kunzle cakes. There was a chocolate one, orange and two other flavours maybe lemon. In a chocolate shell. Special treat at the time. xx
When Anne and I first married, we had mainly Ginger Cats, they mainly where rescue cats/kittens. We had a lrge She cat who really looked special when silhouetted against the sky/sun on the window ledge.. The huge grey Anne seems to remember it named Dusty.
I can remeber treats when young, Choc and cake - The simple things good in those days Nestle Choc and Eccles Cake, used to love those.
I agree all cats are "wonderful" We have a long haired Black She, and a White/Black/Liver Tom - So different and both ammuning in their own ways. xx

From about 4 we also had a white Persion, she used to annoy the dog next door, by putting the paw down the wall and then as the dog tried to jump up to catch it - she would bring it back up again, such a racket.

Hi Bernardine - I remeber when I was about 5 we had this she Persion. She was very quitet, she liked being petted, but not a trouble maker.
Must be about 50 years ago, we got a Ginger Tom for RSPCA rescue, We got him home, not sure how, he got out - About 3 weeks later we heard a cat fight, what a racket- I opened back door and in came the Ginger Tom. How we never knew, when he got free, he must have stayed close by.
He was a fighter - He would annoy dogs, then run under my car - The dogs that peeped under got scratched.
He went on to live about 6 years I think, this cat I was married to Anne, He was so different than the perfectly mannered Persion.
We have had rescue cats too. Adults. The took longer to trust but once they bonded the trust was 100%. It was so rewarding to give them a good home where they were loved and well cared for. Amazing animals. We have a silver Bengal in our village and he is stunning and cheeky. He likes to climb into our car if the window is left open. Sits at the top of trees and adores water. We dont see him very often but always nice when we do. We also have a stunning large Ginger Tom but he is mainly retired these days and stays nearer to his home. Dusty and Smoky a bit of a grey theme. lol. Oh I love a cat on a window ledge as you say against sunshine
I agree things were good in those days just less choice but what we had we enjoyed. xx
Where we live now - You have to take rescue cat's it two's - After being vetted. We bough the black and white one no pedegree and it cost £175. The black cat from a friend, £30'.
My youngest daughter has a Rag doll cat, given her . Going back to the treats when young, kids get more now, but I reckon we enjoyed ours more when young -Not as much as they get now, but it tasted good..xx
I think it was because they were treats and most children looked forward to them more as not on tap. Plus probably less additives too- so tasted better ? . So much has palm oil in these days. I avoid any chocs or items with this in it.
Ragdoll cat are very nice although I do not know much about them. Sphynx appear more popular too. Good for allergies but need bathing a lot and also have to make sure they are warm enough. I do like a furry feline myself. We had two rescue together but they did not spend that much time with each other. Rubbed along doing their own thing. In fact our "great white" as we nicknamed him really called Theo was very friendly with the lovely Ginger cat I mentioned earlier.
Was £175.00 from rescue ? That is a lot but its been a while. xx
No we saw the kitten advertised at a private address.
You make an excellent point RE:OIL - I used to love FishnChips. now I wont eat them from a Chip Shop and I think the oils taint them.
I make batter and cook battered cod fried in sunflower oil, with them Oven chips cooked in Sunflower Oil.
It has little taste and is healthy.
Victoria was given the Rag Doll from her partners mother, who breeds them.
Oh that is lovely. Victoria has plenty of advice on breed too.
We have one Fish and Chip shop that we use as still cook with good old fashioned oil and taste. But rare as hens teeth these days. That is pretty good going making a batter and the best taste ever. I use oven chips these days and yes healthy option.

Thank you Pat Maud used a lot of Tulips in her painting, I looked at the Cat and the Flowers and though, more might spoil the simplicity. After have a dozen mond changes, I stuck with what I had done x
