I've never found diet makes any difference, though I do try to eat healthily, except when I'm not too well and resort to ready meals. What does make a difference to me is activity- trying to get some healthy exercise each day. We are all different, so perhaps someone will be along soon who does have some tips.

Here's a general diet sheet for respiratory diseases: lnds.nhs.uk/Library/Eatingw...

Some people find cows milk can cause problems (bloating), and a few others have a problem with bleached white flour (breathlessness). It is hard to remove these from your diet, though, so try a symptoms and diet diary before you try, to make sure these foods are likely candidates.

Plenty of fruit and veg, lean meats and wholemeal bread, pasta etc. Limit processed food. Drink plenty of water.

Try Googling 'mucus forming foods', see if anything comes up then eliminate them.

In the past here in UK dairy products and bananas have been said to be mucus forming but I'm not sure if there's any scientific confirmation of this. I eliminated all fruit because of the sugar content), gluten and all dairy for months, cutting out dairy made little difference to my chronic sinusitis however, we're all different.

I find the best thing for mucus is to wash out your sinus's on a regular basis, if nothing else it helps to stop infections and use Ventolin to help clear your chest. When things get too bad I take antihistamine. I have a fairly good diet and cook everything from scratch most days ,hope this helps x

I think the mucus is on their lungs, not from their sinus!

I didn't have any mucus until my sinus's got infected and by the time my gp finally decided to send me to the hospital and the respiratory doctor got me to ent it was over a year before they discovered all my sinus's were infected and i have never been able to clear this since. They infect my chest if i don't clear my nose all the time and it gathers overnight so is a constant battle to keep my nose and chest clear. If I had known at the time I would never have let my sinus's get like that, now I will never get rid of it x

this is my situation too. I have to keep my sinuses as clear as possible otherwise it collects on my lungs and makes breathing so much worse.

I personally have an intolerance to cow's milk and cream. Makes me slightly tight and feel off colour. I therefore use goat's milk on my cereal, and Alpro cream substitute, made from soya.

Chocolate is no gd for me either but not found anything that makes a difference.if u don't already, doing active cycle of breathing on Lternate sides is gd.getting it up in dedicated sessions helps to keep on top of it in between

I try to avoid dairy because it seems to thicken my mucus. I eat it very rarely but since being on this forum I realise one size doesn't fit all. I still haven't found the perfect diet but not sure there is one. xxx

Air pollution can also contribute to mucus formation. Try using an air purifier at home.

I made a conscious decision to stop using cows milk and have been through all the alternatives, settled on oat milk.I don't drink wine now because of the sulphites. I've never tried the vegan wine ie minus the fish scales.

Love sugar and chocolate but it's a huge trigger and I pay for it the next day. x
