Hi Purple please try not to worry so much , don't stay in bed all day it will make you free worse. Did the Doxy and press help to clear things up. If so you are fine, it's only natural you may feel like this at times. Have a word with your GP as you sound so anxious, tell him how you are feeling he will be able to help you. Please let us know how you get on have a good day and take care 😊 Bernadette and Jack 🐕 xxxxxx

What maedication do u mean for infection or my breathing.... I've got dressed walked down stairs done bit of tidying up I was breathless xx

If you are breathless, you need to plan a rest in between things.I usually get dressed after breakfast.

Getting dressed is really hard work when you feel breathless.

I have a chair in the kitchen for when I get weary.

I know it’s really hard being breathless, but the worst thing you can do is stay in bed with a bad chest.

If. I feel rough,I get up, promising myself I can go back to bed after breakfast if I need to.I usually manage to stay out of bed.

I hope your GPwill be able to help you.

Hi Purple, it’s understandable to be scared when you get any lung disease diagnosis. You need to get the best medical care you possibly can. Ask for a referral to a respiratory consultant and don’t take no for an answer. Take hold of your life and live it. I’m carer for Pete who has sarcoidosis, COPD and heart disease plus chronic back problems. Things aren’t great at times but he’s living everyday.

I do wish you better days ahead. Take care xx💜

If you aren't feeling any better you may need more antibiotics, so please speak to your GP and explain what's happening with you he can help if it's is still the infection, and ask to be referred to pulmonary rehabilitation that would help you a great deal. 😊 Bernadette and Jack 🐕 xxxxxx

Hi Purple, unfortunately if you have been diagnosed with copd you will experience breathing difficulties at times and it’s very natural to feel anxious and panicky, which will then make symptoms worse. The trick is to learn to manage the condition , if your struggling try to remain calm and concentrate entirely on your breathing rather than letting your thoughts run riot. Take any medication , relievers etc you’ve been prescribed and rest for awhile until you ve calmed down. DONT stay in bed , my husband did once and became very very poorly , you need to keep moving whenever you are up to it One course of meds doesn’t always solve the problem so do get back to your Gp if you don’t feel you’re back to what is normal for you , there are numerous medications and aids for your condition. My husband was diagnosed at 57 and is now 74 , he was terribly anxious at first and had a couple of full blown panic attacks but he learned how best to manage the condition as you will 😊 xx

That’s good. I often need several courses of antibiotics and steroids before I am feeling better following a severe chest infection. Hope this lot of antibiotics does the job.

Hope what the GP's now prescribed you will get you back on your feet.

Once you feel better, ask for a referral to Pulmonary Rehab, and don't commit suicide by sofa. Those were the two best tips I got when I first joined here in 2015 after a diagnosis of moderate COPD. They helped turn my life around after the bad news.

If the meds don't work you must go back to your GP. Some lung bugs can be very persistent. As some of the others have suggested, when you feel a bit better, ask for pulmonary rehab and to be referred to a pulmonary consultant. Do keep in touch.

I know that feeling well. I too suffer from copd and the constant accusations that I am exaggerating it are soul destroying. After a long long process involving a community matron team I finally got the OK to use a nebulizer (which I had to buy) and a supply of nebules. The improvement was immediate and dramatic.

However it was shortlived. My GP said it was unnecessary and refused to prescribe nebules.

I now sit looking at my mint machine, drawing breath in shallow gasps and cursing that GP.

I have a consultant's appointment early March but it seems like a lifetime away.

I am beginning to despise the medical profession.

sassy59 in reply to stan_25

That made me very angry as you should not have anything that can help you withheld. If the nebuliser and nebules are helping then please get back in touch with your GP and reiterate your needs. Let your consultant know too. Don’t wait until March. Xxx

A really good saying which i use often is ..slow and steady wins the race. Don,t dive in, take your time and gradually get back into the swing of things. it,s easier said then done but try not to get anxious if you start to get out of breath. Sit down and relax, deep slow breathes and do something to occupy your mind so your not thinking about your breathing or how your breathing A puzzle, book , something on the tv like a quiz, i do adult colouring , the adult colouring books are alot more intricate with lovely pictures to colour, its very good at relaxing you and taking your mind of things and whats happening.
