You can use them all outside as far as i know. I have the original kindle, but if i bought another one would buy the paper white as it has a back light so can use it at night. Hope this helps xx

A meaty subject here. I have a kindle fire which is great. Emails, games, tv and radio, music, web and more. Afterthought, books!!

Hi Polly, a link here to a blog a couple of months ago, but don't blame me if it's too much information!!

I also have the original Kindle and love it. Have had it a few years now and no problems. Not sure which I would go for if I ever had to replace it. I only want one to read books - I have my iPad and laptop for everything else.

If you want mainly for reading consider the Kindle paperwhite.

If you want it to do games and more Kindle fire might be your choice. Check out all about the different Kindles:

There isn't much between them. The Kindle Paperwhite is good but suffers from a slightly inferior backlight and you are tied to Amazon. The W H Smith Kobo has a better light and a wider range of books. You pays your money...........

I had an original, but I now have a Paperwhite. Love it.

I have the Nexus 7 tablet. It's an Android as apposed to Apple iPad. It carries kindle books and akido (another load of books) has night or day screen.

The Nexus is brillaint, great picture, does loads of other stuff too - AND FITS IN MY HANDBAG - so I can pick up wifi where ever there is a free one all over the world.

They may be cheaper soon as there's a new one out.

Lots of reviews on amazon but they dont sell it on a discount - because it would spoil their monopoly on Kindle. Mine's from Mr Curry's. Good luck.P
