Oxyfit breather

Morning everyone. Haven't posted for a while since joining, recently had a syrometry test, results are inconclusive /borderline copd but my hyperinflaged lungs showed up 9n the test, my predicted volume is 89% but my actual reading was 130% which has triggered off my health anxiety no end :( fortunately my lung function is really good at 100% I walk miles and weight train. Smoking is ceasing in the next day or so and I'm booking a course of infrared saunas to help with the detox process and hopefully open up my airways a bit. I bought an oxyfit breathing trainer a few months ago but have been scared to use it, anyone have any positive results from them and anything else to help me clear mucas? My main restriction comes from the mucas i feel so I'm hopefully that once I quit smoking my lungs will clear abit 🙏 sorry for the long post! Got a bit carried away with it all 🤣

Our lungs start to deteriorate even with no disease from age 27yrs old. Having 100% lung function at your age is truly .magnificent. Well done.👍

Hello! Can't help with the oxyfit and don't (wierdly!) have much mucus these days! I just wanted to say well done with the no smoking, stick with it, it's the most important help your lungs can have :) However, I have to say I was quite disheartened by the fact that when I gave up, I DID have a problem with mucus and I did feel bad for a couple of months. So be aware, although we are all different :)

Very well done and keep up the exercise! xx

Thanks! I seem to have failed my plan to stop as I've just bought another packet of tobacco 😭 I'm reading 'the nicotine trick' by Neil cassey but finished my packet of tobacco beifre the end of the book, why is it so hard to stop doing something that you know is damaging your lungs?!

You haven’t failed! It takes time. I used to have bits of tobacco from a friend for a few months. I didn’t buy any but having a little in the house stopped me panicking, but at the same time I had very little to smoke. I also took up crochet to keep my hands busy.

Don’t be down on yourself, it’s probably the hardest thing to do in your life. Don’t give up giving up! I’m always here to chat xx

Do stop smoking - it IS the biggest cause of copd, increases risk of many cancers, heart disease etc.id make that your priority & access help and support, people do understand. Course of saunas sound good.my son loves to use gym, swim then go in sauna.he goes cpl x a day to sauna if has a nasty cold,he swears by it+it does seem to help shift it

Is that the device that helps clear the mucas? I've been looking at them, think I should have got that type bot the one I got, I need something to help me clear the mucas in my lungs. Stopping smoking is top of my list but I'm finding it hard

Yes it does, the vibrations in lungs helps to loosen mucous.i do prefer the aerobika though and in uk,u can get on prescription.if u.look at aluk website, look at lung clearance techniques - active cycle of breathing, huffing technique.theyre r very effective and there r videos too.gd luck with stopping smoking, lots people here have& understand its hard.if u have anxiety - look also at controlled breathing technique - pursed lips technique - it's really helpful x

The Acapella device is good, especially because it’s not invasive - I was given one in the hospital during my psuedonomas episode .

Hi Katoune, I have bronchiectasis not COPD but I use the same device as NHgardener. It feels much gentler and easy to use than the other devices and helps clear mucus.🙂xxx
