Have severe copd emph and bronchiectasis, currently on Trimbow at the highest dose. It's taken 2 x a day morning and evening but the problem is it's not lasting for the alotted time and i am getting v breathless before I'm due another dose. Are there any better similar inhalers that one can take more often or that last longer between doses? Any suggestions gratefully rcvd before I get gp appt! Thanks!, Clare. Ps also have salbutamol but doesn't help.

Can't give any input re inhalers but maybe phone the helpline and get advice that you could take to your Gp/ consultant.

I use Trimbow as well I do find I have good days and bad days with it. I use a ventolin in haler for in between which I take up to 4 puffs at a time (reccomended by gp and consultant. I carry while out and about. Chat to your gp . Take care xx

Hi, so sorry to hear of your daily struggles . I'm afraid I know nothing about Trimbow however, I do think that you need to speak to your gp or respiratory nurse on changing inhaler. Personally I find the M.A.R.T inhaler regime perfect for me, I take 2 puffs am & pm, with MART it's possible to take up to a total of 8 puffs per day. I've rarely needed ventolin or Salamol since being on it & only need extra puffs of Fostair during exacerbations or infections.

A MART inhaler may or may not be possible for your level of lung disease so do seek medical advice wont you or call the helpline for it on 0300 222 5800 . Good luck, P

a lot of us use a combination af additional medications such as Montelukast or carbocysteine mucolytic type medications to help with inflammation and breathlessness which help reduce the problems and eke out the steroid inhalers. Plus devices which improve the clearance of mucus which contribute to breathlessness.

I’m not sure if you have used, are using or don’t get on with any of those, I’m sorry if I’m repeating ideas you’ve already tried and moved on from.

But really if you’re not right you need to talk to your best helpful medic rather than risk a worsening of symptoms.

Good luck 🤞💐

Hi Claracola,

I also have severe copd emphezema and bronchiectasis. I use Stiolto Respimat, a once a day (2 puffs) inhaler and a Ventolin rescue inhaler as needed or before exercise. Seems to hold me for the 24 hours. Do check with your GP. Sometimes finding an inhaler that works takes a few tries. (This was my 2nd) You are not alone, lots of good advice/ideas/help here.

Take care.
