Yes I would just until you can speak to your GP. Hope it clears up soon. Maybe ask if you can try a different antibiotic. I used to find amoxicillin nit strong enough. X

You must see your GP or respiratory person. The infection is still there and Amoxicillin has not touched it. Have you given a sputum sample yet? - that would show your doctor which bug to target. I found my AeroBika very helpful in bringing up sputum. Best wishes, I hope you are soon better. xxx

If Doxy would not touch the infection, Amoxicillin is most unlikely to. It sounds as if you need a really strong antibiotic.

hi just a a quick note I’ve got copd emphysema an I take narsys it’s a dissolvable tablet in bit of water I take every morning it helps to loosen an thin the mucus so you can bring it up more easily 😊 you probably already no this ,it really helps me especially if I’ve had a chest infection hope this helps .I think it might be better to see gp and see if they give you different antibiotics to try an combat this for you all the best

Hope you feel better soon

I think Yvonneh means Nacsys, which I get on prescription from my GP. 🙂

Hi I find doxycycline isn't good for me but, always 2 doses of amoxicillin does with 1 dose of prednisolone although depending on the bugs you grow and hopefully gp will test your sputum and find a one that works for you

I find carbocisteine really helpful alongside antibiotics to help loosen mucus. It makes it very thin and easy when doing daily chest clearance or with the Aerobika. Hope you can get it cleared up soon :)

If your mucus is still like this then the infection hasn't cleared, you need to get a sample in to the gp quickly so they know what they are dealing with. One week of antibiotics wont be enough to clear this and Amoxycillan is ok for minor infections but I doubt will clear this x

Get a sputum sample done, that will show what bug your brewing and correct antibiotic to take. I have specimen pots and forms at home so I put a sample in when I feel unwell. Hope this helps.

I’d take a sputum sample to your GP and ask for a different antibiotic. Good luck.

Did you have 2weeks of doxycycline? I always need 2 weeks and sometimes 3 weeks to get me through a flare up. Maybe you need more doxycycline or another strong antibiotic x

Get your sputum analysed by putting a sample in to your surgery, and get the right antibiotic to knock out the bug that you have. Sometimes that may be an intravenous AB is required.

in my surgery you can’t just drop of a sputum sample it has to be requested from a dr …..

Yeah, I had a bit of trouble years ago, but they relented soon enough. I don't get chest infections any more after eradicating black mould from our home in Apr 2018. In 2017, I kept a diary and counted 18 infections in that year.
